STEPS TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK

Good news, you've got more time to create and submit your designs! We've extended the submission period by 3 weeks so the new deadline is April 6, 2021.

1. Please start by logging in to your 'Young Creator' account!

2. Carefully read this Creative Brief and develop your artwork

3. When you're ready, click 'Submit' to upload your work and your signed Permission Agreement. You can either print and sign the agreement, uploading it as a photograph or scan. Or if you do not have access to a printer you can visit a free pdf editor online, sign the agreement there and save it as a pdf before uploading it to our website.

4. When the brief closes for early selection on Thursday, February 11 (9AM GMT), Universal Music Group will review all submissions to date and announce the Early Selected Creators

5. When the brief closes for final selection on Tuesday, April 6 (9AM GMT), Universal Music Group will review all submissions and announce the Final Selected Creators

THE BRIEF
  • Create a design that could be printed onto a t-shirt or vinyl record sleeve for the band Queen.
  • We are celebrating 50 years of Queen this year so the design needs to visually represent the band and their music, as well as celebrate their past achievements. In your design we want to see what Queen’s music means to you and how you think it could impact future generations.
  • Please make sure the design is drawn as a square! You can use our Design Template or you can simply draw a square that measures 30cm x 30cm and draw inside the lines.

  • Your submission will be used to inspire the teams at Universal Music UK (UMUK). The final selected creator will have their design printed onto a t-shirt or vinyl sleeve and displayed in UMUK’s global headquarters. They will also get the chance to meet the team at UMUK who work with Queen and their management.
  • You can submit your design in the form of a photograph or digital drawing, graphic or illustration (i.e. using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or ProCreate). You could draw, print or paint your design by hand and submit it via a scan. If you are creating your design on a computer or tablet, the file should be exported as a .jpeg or pdf, and be no bigger than 10MB.

Things to Consider
  • We want you to be creative and use your imagination to come up with a fresh idea.
  • Your submission should represent all the members of the band and their full body of work. It shouldn’t only focus on the iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury.
  • We want to be inspired so we are open to any style or concept - from beautiful to radical!
  • Think about what colours, symbols and imagery you could include - we want to see your creativity!
  • Go wild, think outside of the box and give us a fresh perspective! Think about how you could revive the band’s current imagery by checking out what the band currently post on their Instagram.
  • Think about how your design would look on a t-shirt or vinyl record sleeve.



    Here's some things you could consider about the band:
    • Queen redefined how we think about genres within pop and rock
    • They created new and unique sounds that have yet to be replicated
    • They have written some of the biggest songs in the world
    • They are adored globally
    • Freddie Mercury’s legacy has given the band a very close connection to the LGBTQ+ community
    • They have always remained humble
    • Their music is timeless

    KEY TIMINGS

    • Untitled will contact Early Selected Creators by Wednesday, February 17

    • Submit your designs by Tuesday, April 6, 9AM for Final Creator Selection

    • The Final Selected Creator will be announced on Thursday, April 8 2021

    THE OPPORTUNITY

    Universal Music will review all submissions, choosing 6 ideas in the Early Selection Period and 1 Final Selected Creator in March. The work will be presented to the Queen team at Universal Music who will discuss and explore the entries.

    The 6 Early Selected Creators will receive recognition during Universal Music UK’s Invite and Inspire February event and each receive 1 item of merchandise. The Final Selected Creator will have their design printed onto a t-shirt or vinyl sleeve and it will be framed and hung in Universal Music UK’s office alongside some of their most iconic album covers. They will also receive a tablet and 2 items of merchandise.

    All of the submissions will be showcased on Untitled’s site and Universal Music UK may choose to use some of the submissions on their social media channels. If your work is showcased we will make sure to credit you!

    GUIDELINES

    • Who can submit? Anyone aged 11 -18 with a Young Creator account. You may need parent permission.

    • How do I submit? At the top of this page, click 'Submit', and upload your work as a JPEG or PNG. If you created a hand-drawn design, upload a scan of it. All files must be max. size 10 MB. You can submit up to 15 times.

    • What do I need to submit? Designs created by you (please don't submit anyone else's work, including friends, adults or images you found online).

    • What should my submission include? Your design, and the Permission Agreement signed by your parent or legal guardian. We may contact you or your patent if this is missing. Both items are required for a submission to be complete.

    • You can use the design you submit any way you like including school and in your creative portfolio.

    • There are two selection periods for this brief:

      • Early Selection on February 11: 6 Early Selected Creators will receive recognition during Universal Music UK’s Invite and Inspire February event and each receive one item of merchandise.

      • Final Selection will be chosen between March 12-16: 1 Final Selected Creator will have their design framed and displayed in Universal Music’s UK headquarters, receive a tablet and 2 items of merchandise.



    • Once the creative brief closes, Universal Music UK will review all complete submissions and choose the Selected Creators. A complete submission includes the design, signed Permission Agreement, meets the creative brief, terms & conditions and Official Rules.

    • Selected Creators agree to allow Universal Music UK and Untitled to use their design across online and social channels (this is a non-exclusive, worldwide, digital and social license).

    • Make sure the email address on your Untitled profile is correct (this will be yours or your parent/guardian's) so we can contact you about incomplete submissions or if you are a Selected Creator.

    • All complete submissions will become visible on Untitled when Selected Creators are announced. At this time, your submission and your Untitled display name will be visible to the Untitled community.

    • Please respond to Untitled emails within 72 hours. If we don't hear back from you or your parent/legal guardian, you will forfeit the incentive detailed in 'The Opportunity'.

    • Untitled may remove any inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions from anywhere on the Untitled platform.
